 Getting started with an import/export business can look daunting at the outset, but our introduction to the business can ease your mind and help you begin.   Our international trading experts will walk you through how to select the best target markets and the best plan of attack. You’ll learn about finding your ideal overseas partners, resources, export quoting, as well as support in working out your key logistical considerations.  

 Customs and Logistics 

 Where do you start moving your goods in and out of the country? This customs and logistics course is perfect for anyone looking at the functions and processes required, from working with HMRC, through to documentation requirements and working with freight forwarders.   You’ll cover many of the rules involved with exporting goods, get clued up on the licenses you’ll need and the checks you’ll need in place.  

 Working with Distributors and Agents 

 Picking the right partners is pivotal to a successful import and export business. Tackling working with distributors and agents, this course will provide a thought process for choosing the ideal route to market and sourcing overseas partners.  Ideal for delegates tasked with export sales, our experts will also cover the important elements to consider in a distributor agreement, as well as touching on the Bribery Act.   

 Introduction to Rules of Origin 

 Are you striving to find out exactly where your product came from and declaring it correctly? This course will consider the key issues of Rules of Origin and how they can be applied to the products you are looking to import or export.   Using real examples and highlighting UK trade agreements, our experts will guide all delegates on how to determine the exact origin status of their products and how to declare it.  

 Letters of Credit and Export Finance 

 The complex world of international payment methods can catch many business owners, accounts and sales departments out, if rules are not understood and processes put into place.   During this course, our experts will support delegates to pair the most appropriate payment method in a variety of international trading scenarios. Close attention will be paid to Letters of Credit and how mistakes can be avoided.

Stuart Gregory is the MD and founder of Wallis Shipping Services Ltd and has over 35 years’ experience in the logistics industry. He regularly assists UK companies on how to export and import. He is also a Director of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and a local shipping contact for the Bank of England.  Since the beginning, he has believed in offering honest, reliable and exceptional service.
