Dr Malcolm Braithwaite has taken up the post of chairman at Colbea – the Business Enterprise Agency based in Colchester.
Dr Braithwaite takes over from Philip George, whose term as Chairman ended after almost 4 years in the post. Mr George is Managing Partner at Essex law firm, Birkett Long LLP, and will continue serving Colbea as a member of its board. All members of the board, including the Chair, give up their time voluntarily to support the work Colbea does in encouraging the growth of new business.
At the recent board meeting, Bob Baggalley, Colbea’s Chief Executive, thanked Mr George for his excellent leadership and professional advice during his time as Chairman, and welcomed current board member, Dr Braithwaite, into the post.
As an entrepreneur and business manager, Dr Braithwaite has a wealth of relevant experience that has already been of enormous benefit to Colbea. A past Chief Executive of Exchem Organics, a chemical manufacturing company near Harwich, Dr Braithwaite is a chemistry graduate with experience in R&D, production, commercial development, technical management and general management. He has held company directorships and represented the SME chemicals sector as a Council member of the Chemical Industries Association.
In addition, he has been actively involved in local business initiatives in the region, including the development of the Tendring District Council Local Strategic Plan and as a participant in workshops held by the East of England Development Agency. Dr Braithwaite now heads up Resonato, a company advising businesses on proactive reputation management.
