More than 80 people attended Colbea’s AGM and Sponsors’ summer networking evening on Thursday 8 July.
The centre of excellence for new and start up businesses welcomed several VIP guests including Colchester Mayor Cllr Sonia Lewis, Colchester’s MP Bob Russell and Chairman of Tendring District Council Alan Goggin.
As well as the business of the AGM, sponsors and guests heard about the new Business Incubation Centre that is under construction on the Colchester Business Park and will be opening in January 2011. Representatives from Rose Builders, who are currently working on site, were also in the audience.
The evening was chaired by Colbea’s Chairman, Dr Malcolm Braithwaite. Guest speaker was Christine Beadle MBE - well known in the Colchester area for her successful business career - who spoke about how she originally set up the cleaning business, Monthind, and the factors that helped to set that business apart from its competitors. Monthind was sold in 2000 but Christine remains involved in new business ventures and has become a champion of the start up business.
