Press Release kindly provided by Colchester Borough Council:
Work has started on building Colchester Borough Council’s innovative new Business Incubation Centre (BIC).
Local contractors Rose Builders ltd started work on the site in the Colchester Business Park on Monday 11 January. The BIC will contain 26 units and will provide space for new small businesses to operate and grow, which will in turn provide an increase in employment opportunities for the Borough.
Cllr Nigel Offen Portfolio Holder for Resources and Business said “I am delighted that work has started on the Business Incubation Centre which promises to bring substantial gains for the town.
“This project will enable job creation and will also increase the new business registration rate, thus increasing economic prosperity to the Borough. The Council is extremely pleased to be providing aspiring businesses with such a valuable resource.”
The centre operator, COLBEA, have also assisted in the development of the centre. Additional funding has been secured from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
New small businesses who are interested in letting units should contact Patrick O’Sullivan, North Colchester Project Manager on 01206 282976
The BIC is scheduled to be completed for occupation in January 2011.
