The directors of Colbea give up their valuable time completely free of charge in order to help manage the tactical and strategic aspects of the Business Enterprise Agency. They are drawn from local business life and represent a wide gamut of skills and experience. Together they allow Colbea access to a level of management expertise that is seldom found in any organisation.
Dr Braithwaite was, until very recently, Chief Executive of exchem organics, a small chemical manufacturing company based at Great Oakley, near Harwich. A chemistry graduate, Malcolm has experienced R&D, production, commercial development, technical management, and general management, along with company directorships, throughout his 32 years in the chemicals industry. He has worked to develop fine chemicals activities from within a few small to medium-sized companies, utilising the core strengths of the chemical skills of the business. He has been active in national and international efforts to enhance the image and competitiveness of “Fine Chemicals (UK) PLC”. He has also represented the SME chemicals sector on CIA Council.
During the 11 years spent at exchem, Malcolm has actively involved himself in local business initiatives in Tendring, monitored the development of the Tendring District Council Local Strategic Plan, and regularly attended the Tendring Business Club networking meetings. He has also participated in several East of England Development Agency workshops and high level meetings.
From January 2007, he will be operating as Principle Consultant for his own company, Resonato, advising management teams in client companies on proactive reputation management programmes.
